These Broadwell Macs came out almost a year ago. Such a shame that it feels like older computers are the way to go. I think they just haven't optimized Pro Tools for the Broadwell CPUs we both have in the the 2015 MacBook Pros so I may just go back to my 2013 MBP and return this one. I've tried this on 12.5, 12.4 and even 11 and the results are always the same. They told me to try totally removing the Waveshell and I did but that simply changed the error from a 9173 to a 9129. They told me Waves was causing the problem but making the plugins "inactive" really made no difference. I've been going back and forth with tech support this week. I've tried removing plugins, but I practically have to remove them all in order to play a session which is of course useless. Before purchasing the new Mac, I was aware the computer was qualified "with the caveat" that "Using lowest buffer size may cause CPU errors" but that's not a problem for my work and I'm fine running at the highest 1024 samples (though I've tried others). After playing for a few seconds, I get a CPU spike with an AAE -9173 error "Pro Tools ran out of CPU Power". I work in Post and my sessions consist of only about 25 to 35 voices with plugins from Avid, Izotope, McDSP and Waves. I just upgraded to an Early 2015 13" 3.1 i7 MBP with 16 GB of RAM. I was running PT 12.5 HD with HD Native Thunderbolt and HD Omni on a Late 2013 13" 2.8 i7 MBP with 16 GB on RAM.
